Sarp Kerem Yavuz Becomes Youngest Artist at Istanbul Modern

Between May and November of 2013, Istanbul Modern hosted "Close Quarters". Curated by Sena Çakırkaya and showcasing 18 Turkish artists, the photography exhibition is "is an unusual record of the personal and the ordinary."

The exhibit was a Parallel Event of the 13th Istanbul Biennial, "Mom, am I barbarian?"

Sarp Kerem Yavuz's Polaroid series "Substitutes for My Father", sponsored by the Impossible Project, was exhibited as part of the show that focused on notions of intimacy in the lives of photographers.

At the age of 21, Sarp was the youngest artist in the history of the museum to exhibit and be included into the permanent collection.
